
Department of Sports and Welfare for Older Adults
In 2022, the population of older adults over the age of 65 have exceeded 9 million, 17.5% of the total population, making it an aged society and will enter a super-aged society in 2025. As the importance of older adults’ healthy life has risen, the Sports and Welfare for Older Adults Major at Keimyung is a newly established major in Spring 2023. It is a major that focused on cultivating ‘Silver Sports Welfare’ specialists who is able to contribute to the improvement of the health and quality of life for older adults through the composition and guidance of various physical activities, exercise, or sports programs.
The Sports and Welfare for Older Adults Major provided a valuable curriculum for our students who will be able to understand of the physical and characteristics of the older adults, to select and apply safe and effective physical activities, exercise, and sports programs for older adults, and to acquire various theoretical knowledge and practical exercise of older adults. In addition, it is strongly believed that the cultivation of ‘Silver Sports Welfare’ professionals who pursue the promotion of the welfare through the physical activities, exercise, or sports programs will contribute to improving the quality of life and satisfaction of older adults.
